Sefton occurs as metropolitan borough on Merseyside, North West England.

It was formed in April 1, 1974 from the previous county boroughs of Bootle and Southport, along with a borough of Crosby, the urban districts of Formby and Litherland, and section of West Lancashire Rural District.
